Avalanche Course

Join one of our popular courses and "know before you go". These are primarily held in English but will also give you a good understanding of common Norwegian avalanche vocabulary. We are also happy to arrange any course on request for you and your friends.

Basic Avalanche Course

This 1+2 day course will cover the basics of avalanche hazard awareness, companion rescue, terrain management, stability assessment and navigation. There is a homework part for preparation and two field days around Tromsø. Usually we have a lot of fun and get to ski nice snow. No previous avalanche knowledge is required. There is a maximum of 6 students per group. Discount for students and members of the local climbing club TKK. Price 2600/2300,- Dates 2023: January 28-29, February 25-26. Avalanche Course Level 2

This is the next step. We will look deep into the complexity of the ever changing snow pack, the human factor, terrain management and practice advanced companion rescue. The course requires a few years of back country touring experience and basic avalanche skills, including map reading and steepness assessment. As for the Basic Course, there is a maximum of 6 students per group. There is a homework part and two days of field training around Tromsø. 10% discount for students and members of the climbing club TKK.
